Earlier this year, The St. Regis Abu Dhabi pledged to donate all Ramadan sales of Catch at St. Regis’ signature, super-creamy and indulgent ‘Catchamisu’ dessert to charity. Now, the iconic destination has revealed the full results of this successful campaign, with items being gifted to the Cancer Ward at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical Center, and to organisations Operation Smile UAE and the SEDRA Foundation for Inclusion.
An amazing AED 1,500 was raised to buy gifts and toys for children receiving care in the specialist hospital, plus funds to purchase an Otoscope, an essential piece of equipment used for assessing the health and needs of children with cleft palates prior to surgery, for Operation Smile’s Abu Dhabi team.
Continuing its support of SEDRA (Services for Educational Development, Research and Awareness for Inclusions), which aims to empower and uplift people of determination, the property also gifted a laptop to the group. This computer will enable more young adults to take part in The St. Regis Abu Dhabi team’s virtual training sessions, where participants can learn various daily tasks such as table setting, laundry folding and communications, as well as important life skills.
Morag Cromey-Hawke, Executive Director of Operation Smile UAE, said: “Operation Smile UAE is extremely thankful to The St. Regis Abu Dhabi for their generous donation of an otoscope. This will be used to help determine the needs of children with cleft conditions during pre-surgery examinations. It is thanks to the generosity of companies such as The St. Regis Abu Dhabi that we can continue to provide treatment for children with cleft conditions and allow them to lead happy and fulfilling lives. After all, every child deserves to smile.”
Renate Baur-Richter, Program Manager at SEDRA Foundation, said: “Particularly in times of the global pandemic, we recognized that our virtual programs and learnings are a lifeline for Youth of Determination. Today, we are therefore grateful for the donation of a laptop. Our participants will use this device to attend workshops virtually, enjoy social activities and work on their skills. SEDRA Foundation is honoured by the continuous support of The St. Regis Abu Dhabi. Over the last years, their teams worked alongside our experts on many meaningful inclusion projects. This Ramadan initiative embodies the culture of social responsibility and community support at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, Richard Thackrey, Director of Human Resources at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, commented: “It has been a great honour and pleasure to be able to donate to these three brilliant organisations and give back to the community of Abu Dhabi. The entire team is absolutely thrilled with the results of the campaign and we’re delighted that so many people supported for a good cause. We’re certain that the items purchased will be put to very good use, and the hotel looks forward to hosting more charity projects and initiatives in the future.”
