Gourmands, mark your calendars, as Sontaya is set to host a culinary journey – Taste of Southeast Asia – at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi.
From October 2019 up until January 2020, the award-winning Pan Asian restaurant hosts guest chefs from top hotels in the Far East to create dedicated menus of the best dishes from Southeast Asian cuisines to Abu Dhabi.
The first leg of Taste of Southeast Asia takes guests through some of the finest Malaysian dishes. Chef Mohamed Rasit is flown in from The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur to stimulate your taste-buds with traditional dishes like laksa, curry and spicy noodles from October 7 to 11.
Served from 6.30 PM until 11.00 PM, the a la carte menu will feature a range of signature dishes, representing the best of Malaysian culture and cuisine. Chef Rasit serves up the customary satay, a skewer of chopped meat grilled with a spicy seasoning, as well as beef rendang cooked in coconut milk with mixed spices.
Chef Mohamed Rasit, guest chef at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, said: “Malaysian food is a hub of different cultures and diverse flavors. The cuisine is distinct and vibrant owing to the unique blend of spices and cooking techniques.”
The gastronomic journey continues from November 11 to 16 with Thai Chef Phukvarun Watchmon of Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, who brings with him a special menu of irresistible delicacies from Thailand.
For a taste of Indonesian favorites, Sontaya hosts Chef Made Wisnu Adiyatma from Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa from December 9 to 13.
The final leg of the tour features a menu of Vietnamese dishes crafted by Chef Phuc Nguyen Minh of JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa that will be available from January 13 to 17.
There’s more for fans of Sontaya; the Asian Fusion Brunch is back, celebrating the varied cuisines from across the Far East. The Saturday brunch, served from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM, offers a huge selection of Asian dishes like sushi and curries to duck pancakes. Make the most of your weekend with this set menu brunch, available for AED290 with soft drinks and AED415 inclusive of house beverages.

Sontaya, meaning sunset in Thai, is set amongst a series of floating pavilions that look out to the Saadiyat Beach and the turquoise waters beyond. The terraces overlooking shimmering pools makes this one of the most romantic restaurants in town.
Set across the expansive resort are five other dining venues, including the newly launched MAZI AbuDhabi, the world-renowned Buddha-Bar Beach Abu Dhabi, Mediterranean-inspired Olea, Manhattan Lounge, and a Lobby lounge – The Drawing Room.
