Known for its impeccable Corporate Social Responsibility reputation in the UAE, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi hosted an interactive event to raise awareness about the issue of mental health, in collaboration with the “Darkness into Light” global project. This very special edition of mental health Tea & Talk series featured Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin, a renowned Irish musician, author, sportsman and the Ambassador for Pieta House.
During this interesting event, Bressie spoke about his struggles with anxiety and extensively supported various mental health organisations in their efforts to eliminate the stigma of mental illnesses. The event saw an overwhelming response from the audience. Over 170 attendees made it to the event and were simply inspired by the vivid stories of Bressie.
The atmosphere was quite extraordinary and attendees were seen asking candid questions to Bressie, after the session. Attendees came from all walks of life and professions including the mental health practitioners. The event united people who are suffering with psychological distress. It was encouraging to see an unmatched inspirational vibe throughout the venue, as the audience shared stories and acquired tips and guidance from Bressie to aid in cognitive healing, recovery and growth.
According to Mr. Desmond Hatton, General Manager, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi “Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Maria Kelly, Chairperson, Darkness Into Light UAE and Ms. Laura Brennan, the city’s leading counselling psychologist and empowerment mentor. Also, we truly appreciate the support of all stakeholders including McGettigan’s UAE and the Darkness into Light team of volunteers for bringing this truly noble initiative to our hotel. Mental wellness and health is an important subject that requires the support of our community at large. We are honoured to host this event and hope that it sends out a strong message to all. United we stand for this very special cause!”
